Tactical Shotgun Course

Description:
History has shown that the shotgun is one of the finest and most reliable weapons in the law enforcement arsenal. Despite this fact, this weapon is still one of the most under utilized weapons most personnel posses. This is routinely due to the operator not feeling truly comfortable with the deployment of the shotgun in an operational setting. This 3-day operator’s course is designed to provide participants with skills necessary to effectively and efficiently deploy this weapon in an operational environment. This course will teach the participants just how versatile the shotgun truly is and will have them frequently reaching for the shotgun before any other weapon.

NOTE: Personnel attending this course are expected to have a basic understanding of the handgun they are carrying. Participants should be capable of safely loading, reloading, and unloading their handgun. They should also be able to fire the weapon from various positions and know how to address standard stoppages. This is a tactical application course and NOT a basic handgun familiarization course.

• Use of Cover

• Cornering and Turning with the shotgun
• Weapon retention
• Weapon Transitions

Equipment Required:

• Duty type, law enforcement shotgun
• Pump Action or Semi-Automatic
• Sling (required)
• Duty sidearm
• Duty belt with holster and magazine pouches
• 3 handgun magazines
• Clothing suitable for all weather conditions
• Wrap around eye protection, clear lenses for night firing
• Ear protection
• Cap with brim
• Body armor
• Knee pads (strongly recommended)
• Hydration source

Ammunition Needed:

• 500 rounds of Trap Loads
• 50 rounds of 00 Buck
• 50 rounds of rifled slugs
• 250 rounds of pistol ammunition
