Tactical Handgun Course

Today’s firearms training frequently seems to focus purely on the basic operation of the individual’s handgun. There is nothing wrong with remedial training on basic weapon application, but most personnel want and need more. The Tactical Handgun Course being conducted by D & R Training is designed to take participants to the next level of firearms training. Our course is designed to challenge the participant while pushing them to perform smoothly under stress. We explore tactics and techniques designed to enhance an individual’s ability to perform in a combat event. We know that the individuals confronting law enforcement today are becoming more violent, and more willing. Therefore, the training being offered to law enforcement personnel needs to be geared toward that fluid combat environment. That is exactly what we have accomplished with the D & R Tactical Handgun Training Course.

NOTE: Personnel attending this course are expected to have a basic understanding of the handgun they are carrying. Participants should be capable of safely loading, reloading, and unloading their handgun. They should also be able to fire the weapon from various positions and know how to address standard stoppages. This is a tactical application course and NOT a basic handgun familiarization course.

• Revolver vs Semi-Automatic weapons
• Tactical applications
• Combat Loading
• Stoppage and immediate action drills
• Tactical movement
• Shooting and moving
• Reduced light deployment
• Use of Cover
• Cornering and room clearance
• Turning with the handgun
• Weapon retention

Equipment Required:

• Duty sidearm
• Duty belt with holster
• Speed loader/Magazine pouches
• Minimum of 2 speed loaders or 3 magazines
• Clothing suitable for all weather conditions
• Wrap around eye protection, clear lenses for night firing
• Ear protection
• Cap with brim
• Body armor
• Knee pads (strongly recommended)
• Hydration source

Ammunition Needed:

• 3,000 cartridges of handgun ammunition
