Description:
This 5 day instructor certification course is designed to provide participants with the information they will need to teach a basic patrol rifle certification course. This course addresses all of the information covered in the basic operator’s course as well as how to properly instruct and evaluate the basic operator’s training course, to include low or diminished light applications. Participants will be required to plan, develop, and teach a tactical course of fire to their fellow students. These lesson plans will be assigned by the lead instructor on the first day of training.

NOTE: Personnel attending this course are expected to have completed a basic rifle operator’s course prior to enrolling in this training. Participants should be capable of firing a 6 inch group with a rifle at 50 yards from various positions. They should also possess the ability to make accurate rifle sight adjustments, field strip, reassemble, load and unload their respective rifles, prior to arrival. This is NOT a basic operator school.

  • Operating a safe range
  • Fundamental marksmanship and weapons handling
  • Zeroing iron sighted weapons
  • Use of cover
  • Tactical movement
  • Shooting and moving
  • Various firing positions
  • Decision making
  • Weapon operations under stress conditions
  • Multiple target engagements
  • Reduced light threat identification and engagement
  • Student evaluation and trouble shooting

Equipment needed:

  • Duty type, law enforcement patrol rifle
    • Rifle and pistol calibers are acceptable
    • Iron sights with removable optics acceptable
  • Rifle sling (required)
  • Duty sidearm
  • Duty belt with holster and magazine pouches
  • 3 handgun magazines
  • 3 rifle magazines (required 20 round capacity or more)
  • Water-proof ground cover for zeroing exercises
  • Clothing suitable for all weather conditions
  • Wrap around eye protection, clear lenses for night firing
  • Ear protection
  • Cap with brim
  • Body armor
  • Knee pads (strongly recommended)
  • Hydration source

Ammunition Needed:

  • 1,000 rounds of pistol ammunition
  • 3,000 rounds of rifle ammunition
